WEB ACCADEMY-Description

 
  Students will use industry-standard multimedia and

web-authoring software to create computer presentations and learn business-style web design techniques. This project-based class begins with software basics and progresses to blend text, computer graphics or illustrations, audio, animation, and Internet research into a variety of business and cross-curricular presentations. Successful completion of this course will lead student to a bright career.

 
  • Create basic computer animations and special effects for presentations or on-line distribution.
    Proof copy and test the site for functionality, navigability, and usability before publishing to a web server.
  • Use industry standard presentation software to create and deliver web presentations, self-timed Presentations, and handouts or overheads for distribution to an audience.
 

Classroom Behavior Expectations

  1. Show respectful behavior towards classmates, the teacher, and visitors. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Help others experiencing computer difficulties. Be quiet and courteous when the teacher or another student is speaking to the class.
  2. Be honest on assignments and projects.
  3. Request passes only for emergencies.
  4. Follow all network acceptable use policies. Notify the instructor of computer problems.
  5. Respect all students’ right to learn. Behaviors that disrupt the learning process are not tolerated. Unacceptable behaviors are listed and described in detail in the Academic register.

Web Accademy-Goals and Objectives

The student should

  •  Explore career opportunities.
  •  Demonstrate proficiency in file management in a both windows and Linux environment.
  •  Practice time management and organizational skills.
  • Apply appropriate communication skills (grammar, spelling, and vocabulary) to both computer and oral.
  • Understand the necessity for individual responsibility in our global society.
  • Prepare a storyboard, rough layout, and final project according to elements and principles of design.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of typography.
  • Use scanning, digital photography, or video to gather graphics to edit or enhance with graphic software.
  • Describe different graphic file formats and explain why different formats work better for different purposes.
  • Organize the flow of presentations so that they effectively meet the needs of the intended audience or client.
  • Become competent using the Internet for searches, capturing images, and accessing web resources.
  • Competently use industry-standard graphics programs to create, optimize, and convert graphics and Documents for print media, presentations, or on-line distribution.
